Healing in Action: Why HiN is a Lifeline for Israel’s Veterans

With deep admiration and heartfelt respect, I’m honored to share my thoughts about HiN—an inspiring Israeli nonprofit that has become a powerful source of healing and hope for IDF veterans and combat soldiers in just its first year.

Over the past 18 months, our frontline units have faced relentless trauma and emotional strain. HiN has stepped in with extraordinary dedication, offering more than just support. They offer a true path to recovery, built around one clear principle: the well-being of our soldiers comes first. In every program and decision, this commitment shines through.

What sets HiN apart is how thoughtfully and effectively they bring this vision to life. By blending cutting-edge research, immersive nature experiences, and team-based therapeutic methods, they’ve created a healing journey that is both powerful and lasting. These journeys begin before the retreat even starts—and continue long after—with emotional support, community rebuilding, and personal empowerment that lasts.

Equally important is HiN’s unwavering commitment to inclusion. Through tireless fundraising efforts, they ensure that no soldier is left out. Every member of a unit—regardless of background or personal circumstance—has access to this life-changing experience. That kind of access changes lives.

What’s even more remarkable is how much they’ve accomplished with such a small and passionate team, just one full-time staff member and a circle of dedicated volunteers. Over the past year, I’ve watched them guide dozens of emotionally wounded veterans toward healing. Today, many of these individuals are walking forward with hope, strength, and renewed purpose.

None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of the Wallis family. Their generosity, leadership, and personal commitment are the heartbeat of HiN. They haven’t just made these journeys possible—they’ve made them deeply meaningful.

HiN is a shining example of what happens when science, compassion, and community come together. They’re not only helping our veterans heal—they’re helping them rediscover themselves.

With deep gratitude and full support,

Rabbi Nir Barkin
